2023 Kite Festival Tour

Guatemala celebrates All Saints’ Day and the Day of the Dead today. One of the finest celebrations is in Sumpango where special groups fly giant kites that are more than 15 feet across. These all have very special designs and are flown by a crew of people while the Maya pay special tribute to their deceased family members in the local cemetery.

 

7:30am Meet your expert guide at the Antigua Tours Park Office (5a Avenida Norte #4, inside Casa del Conde) for a private one-hour drive to Sumpango Sacatepéquez. A short walk takes you to the special designated area where you may interact with the kite fliers and makers; enjoy the fantastic kite designs close–up as the Mayas honor their ancestors through kite-flying. Free time to explore the area. 12:00pm Private shuttle to Antigua at about 1pm
